Thunder Bay to Winnipeg

12 June 2017

We left Thunder Bay under clear skies once again. The drive was again filled with views of lush green forests, coloured rock formations and clear, cold lakes with shores dotted by cabins and resort homes.

The landscape is less hilly but continues to give great views. We saw some wildlife today. A black bear, a large moose, a rabbit and tons of birds.

The Ontario rest areas were amazing. Always easy on and off to the highway with well maintained toilets. There were always areas with picnic tables as well.

You will have to excuse Marley's nose on the left there. He thinks he should be in every picture.

For us this is actually farewell to Ontario. We didn't get a picture of the sign coming into Ontario because between Gatineau and Ottawa there is a bridge and there was no place to stop. This sign is not far from the Welcome to Manitoba sign.

We are now entering our 7th province on this trip.

It didn't take long and the land began to level out.
We also started with a divided highway once again after two days of two lane highways. Traffic was at a minimum.

 The prairies have begun.

We have arrived at our destination in Winnipeg.
This is the grape arbor in front of the Koslowsky's home.

We will spend some time here to relax and visit family and friends. We arrived before our hosts returned from their trip to BC. We picked them up at the Airport at 10:50pm. While they were away, however, we enjoyed having our dinner in their outdoor gazebo.

  1. What a rich, beautiful country we live in. A couple of years ago, I travelled with Stan and Eileen from Winnipeg to St. Catharines. Your pics brought back good memories.
