We headed out from our little cottage by the sea in New Brunswick with Quebec City as our destination. The weather this morning was perfect for driving. Some sun, some cloud and temperatures around 14C.
The highway crossed rivers and valleys, through forests and villages. So much to take in.
We made a wrong turn early on in the day but hadn't traveled very far when we realized we were headed south instead of West. A quick turn left and we were back on track.
Our plan was to have a picnic lunch today so we stopped for bread and some greens for sandwiches. Yes, Marley is still along for the ride.
Shortly before lunch the terrain changed and there were a number of places where the hills had been cut out for the highway showing these rocks.
We didn't come across any rest areas so we pulled off into an abandoned road and had a tailgate lunch. Unfortunately we hadn't planned on the tiny black flies.
The weather was amazing today. 14 - 16C and a mix of sun and cloud. Perfect for driving.
Marley always up for a new adventure.
Stopped in Hartland, New Brunswick, to drive through this very long covered bridge. It was claimed to be the longest in the world. ?
Single lane traffic and you entered the bridge only when there was no-one coming from the other way and visa versa.
Today's church picture.
This church was the only one we came across today. At least within taking picture distance. This one was not as clean and kept up as it looks.
As we neared the end of our time in New Brunswick, there were higher hills and more farmland.
We crossed the border into Quebec and everything changed to French only. All signs.
Great pictures of the local area as we traveled west into Quebec.
It seemed that there were many dairy farms as soon as we got into Quebec. Way more than we saw in NB.
We arrived in Levis, Quebec. It is just across the river from Quebec City. We are staying here the night and will walk onto the ferry and across to Old Quebec tomorrow.
We booked an Airbnb and when we arrived this is what we got. It was clean and in a beautiful setting but really small. After we "sort of settled in" the owner came by and said that the people who were to stay in the suite in the house had cancelled and so we were welcome to stay there if we wished. Well, we wished! So although the RV was cute and all we moved into the suite in the house.
Good night from all of us. It was a long driving day but we saw some amazing countryside.
Tomorrow we will take the ferry into Old Quebec and do our walking thing. There is so much to see so we will make a complete day of it.
