When you are standing on the back deck, Torbay and the ocean are to the right and Torbay Bight is to the left. So a short hike along the Bight takes us to the end which is called Torbay Beach. It's a great place to sit and watch ocean life.
The hike takes you along a portion of the East Coast Trail.
The end of the Bight. This is the area where the Town of Torbay began. The area is currently a mixture of farms and residential developments.
Looking down the Bight to the Atlantic.
More of the same.
The who Bight except for the very end is framed by very rugged, steep cliffs.
Lucy in the distance heading down to the beach area.
We found a spot on the grassy hillside to sit in the sun and in the shelter of the wind to watch the breakers.
Perched behind a shrub, Lucy enjoys the amazing view.
Watching gulls & puffins and keeping a watchful eye for a possible whale or porpoise sighting. Nothing today.
Great view from along the trail.
There are many homes along the side of the Bight with a view like this one.
The land, the cliffs, the broiling ocean, the odd iceberg, the open sea, the fog bank in the distance and the variegated sky.
This view is back very close to the house.
