The Planning begins

So it's April and we must start getting serious about planning our cross-Canada trip. So out come the maps and planners. We will need to book our ferry crossing first and plan the first 4 days around that.  We will try and leave St. John's on the 23rd of May and catch the ferry at Port-aux-Basque for North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Marine Atlantic Newfoundland to Nova Scotia travelling on the 25th of May from Port aux Basque on the MV Highlanders:

Looking forward to a number of weeks at this residence at 47 Motion Drive, Torbay, NFLD. This is the guest room overlooking the Torbay Bight and the open Atlantic Ocean.

Soon and very soon this will be our East-Coast destination. Wind, snow, sunshine, blue Atlantic view, more wind, comfortable home, ice bergs, seals, whales, atlantic puffin, waves, walks to the point, walks to Middle Cove, canasta, Sampsons, The Rocket, wind and relaxing.

Flight across was without incident. Both flight were early and the connection went smoothly. Had the amazing experience of watching the northern lights from 37,000 feet as we crossed Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Then the sun rose as we neared Montreal.

It's the first time I tried the overnighter (red eye). The connection is faster and the arrival time in St. John's is at a decent hour (12:00 noon).

This is what the view is like from Barton and Carman's kitchen, Dining & living room. And a couple of bergs to greet me.

I stayed awake the first day although was really tempted to take a nap but I knew if I did it would turn into a long sleep. This way I get used to the time change of 4 1/2 hours a lot sooner.

Lucy and Carman will arrive on Monday after an extra week in Whistler.

One of the first things to do is go to a favorite cafe, the Rocket, and have a wrap or similar sandwich. The place has so much character and is so old.  Today is very foggy and cold so I'm working on this blog. The kids will be home from school soon so I need to start thinking about dinner.
